When Meander is active, the volume of each active sound increases and decreases at random, creating rolling waves of sound that are never the same twice.

Great for focusing during work

I’ve used the web version of A Soft Murmur at work for years, and I just recently downloaded the mobile app. It’s fantastic for those times when you just need to be “in the zone” and focused on a single task. I’ve also enjoyed the fade out function to help me fall asleep at night.
Only complaint is that the web version has 13 more sounds available for purchase (metal chimes, cicadas, stream, and rain on trees are my faves), but those aren’t accessible on the mobile app. If those were available, this would be a 5 star review.

The best sleep app

I’ve used quite a few sleep apps both paid and free and Murmur is the best. I love the rainstorm with things like rain, wind and thunder going as it reminds me of living in Hilo, Hawaii.

Unlike other soundscapes Murmur doesn’t have a steady sound droning on and on like an unnatural rain machine that other apps do. This one is variable with its sounds and intensities. So you not only hear the rain hitting the roof but you can really tell when the rain gutters have overflowed and the rainwater is spilling onto a concrete walkway. I wear a Bluetooth eye mask to block light when sleeping that has speakers in it and when this app is going it’s hard to separate the sounds of the app from reality.

The free version is fine and may be all you need but I paid the in-app purchase because the developer should really be rewarded for such an elegantly simple, and effective app.

Try using it while listening to music!

This is my first time ever writing a review for an app but this is one of my favorite apps ever. The idea behind it is so simple but being able to mix ambient noises together that continuously loop is not only fun but incredibly soothing. I initially started using the sounds to use to focus while working and later i discovered the sleep timer and use it to sleep, but the big thing i wanted to share is that I’ve discovered that the ambient sounds can be paired with music to entirely change the music listening experience. Adding birds and wind to happy music or rain and thunder to dark driving music adds an extra element that you can tailor to your own mood. The album in particular that i tried was geseffelsteins 2019 album “Hyperion”. I listened to it with thunder and rain in the background and the experience was amazing.
